Australia is the only country in the world that is a whole continent and also an island, situated in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia is a land of contrasts with miles of unspoilt beaches, vast stretches of desert, towering mountains and the Outback mixed with the bustling cities. The capital city is Canberra and the biggest city in Australia is Sydney, the focal point of tourism and business; the most popular tourist attractions in Australia are the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock, the Sydney Opera House plus many more.

There are many things to see and do in Australia; visit many of the wildlife parks and zoos that include animals such as koala bears and kangaroos which are the national symbol, most of the animals in Australia are unique to the continent. Uluru or Ayers Rock is a sandstone mound in the northern territory, the rock changes colour at certain times of the day when the sun hits it; during the sunset it glows bright red. The Sydney Opera House is located on the Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour; the building is one of the best-known icons of Australia.

The climate in Australia is temperate with more than 300 days of sunshine per year summer is from December to March and winter is from June to August, the hottest part of the country is in the northern region, which has hot humid and wet conditions in the summer. During winter the days are warm and the nights are mild, in the southern region there are showery colder days but still plenty of sun.
