Days 1-2 : UK - Saigon
Fly overnight to Saigon and transfer to your hotel before your welcome dinner of local cuisine.
Day 3 : Saigon
Begin sightseeing today with a tour of the 19th Century Notre Dame Cathedral, the former Presidential Palace,War Remnants Museum, Cholon - Saigon’s Chinatown, the beautiful Thien Hau Pagoda dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea and the huge Binh Tay Wholesale Market. After lunch, shop at Ben Thanh Market with the rest of the day at leisure.
Days 4-5 : Mekong Delta - Vinh Long
Explore the Delta by boat visiting floating markets and stay overnight in at a local farmer’s house and experience authentic hospitality (with a chance to participate), which includes a music show and a visit to a fruit plantation.
Day 6 : Saigon - Tunnels - Tay Ninh
See the amazing communist guerrilla tunnel system in the Iron Triangle from the war days. We then attend the noon service at the Cao Dai Temple - one of the most striking structures in Asia.
Day 7 : Saigon - Nha Trang
Fly to Nha Trang with the afternoon at leisure to stroll along the beach of this seaside city.
Day 8 : Nha Trang Cruising
Cruise around the islands stopping at the Tri Nguyen Aquarium,Tam Island for snorkelling, visit to a fishing village and for a swim in the South China Sea.
Days 9-11 : Hoi An
Arrive at the University city of Danang and visit the Marble Mountain and China Beach en-route to the ancient merchant trading port and UNESCO listed city of Hoi An. There are many tailors here, so get measured up today and pick up tomorrow! Our walking tour takes in one of the city’s oldest homes, the traditional market, a Chinese Pagoda and the Japanese Bridge. The following day, visit the Cham Ruins at My Son.
Day 12 : Hoi An - Hue
Drive over the spectacular Hai Van pass to the imperial city of Hue and a tour of the Citadel which was inspired by Beijing’s Forbidden City. Participate in a royal cooking class tonight!
Day 13 : Hue - Hanoi
Cruise the Perfume River and visit the Thien Mu Pagoda and Tu Duc Tomb. Fly to Hanoi and on arrival visit the Ethnology Museum. The rest of the day is at leisure in Hanoi which with its lakes, boulevards and parks is styled the Paris of the Orient.
Day 14 : Hanoi
Our city tour visits the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Stilt House and Museum, One Pillar Pagoda and a drive around Hoan Kiem Lake.
Day 15 : Hanoi
Take in a walking tour of the Old Quarter, a visit to Dong Xuan Market and the Temple of Literature before enjoying a show by the famous Water Puppets.
Days 16-17 : Halong Bay Junk Cruise
Cruise Halong Bay, the Jewel in the Crown of Vietnam. Stay overnight and enjoy spectacular scenery and a seafood meal onboard. The next day, drive back to Hanoi through the striking rural countryside of the Red River Delta.
Day 18 : Hanoi - UK
Transfer to the airport and fly back to the UK, arriving home later the same day filled with many happy memories.
Days 17-20 (Optional Extension to Sapa) : Sapa
Board the overnight sleeper train from Hanoi to Sapa. The town, surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges, is the home of many ethnic minorities. Here, explore the Saturday Markets, different minority villages, spectacular valleys and fine examples of tribal architecture. We stay overnight in Sapa for two nights and on our third night, we board the overnight sleeper train for the return journey to Hanoi.
