San Francisco overview

San Francisco is situated on the west coast of California just north of Los Angeles. Lying along the shore of the large bay and sheltered behind the California Coastal Mountain, San Francisco is known for its steep streets and surrounding mountains. With a moderate climate the city has warm summers and colder winter, the constant breezes from the Pacific Ocean keeps the city from getting too hot and it also stops the winters freezing.

There are many things to see and do in San Francisco, The Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world, and it is visible from any high point in the city and is the famous symbol of San Francisco. Alcatraz Island is a former prison isolated in the middle of the bay surrounded by freezing cold water and strong currents, which made it inescapable. There are tours of Alcatraz each day. San Francisco's 130-year-old cable cars are one of San Franciscos' most famous attractions; they are also the world's only working and surviving system of cable cars. San Franciscos' climate is Mediterranean with warm summers and cold winters.
