The Parthenon
Situated in the centre of Nashville's Centennial Park The Parthenon and the 42-foot statue of Athena are full-scale exact replicas of the originals in Greece. The original Parthenon in Athens was built as a monument and considered the peak of classical architecture, the replica in Nashville was built for Tennessee's 1897 Centennial Exposition and is now home to Nashville's art museum, the replica marble statues from the original building are made from direct casts of the statues in Greece which are now housed in the British Museum in London. The focus of the permanent art collection is paintings by19th and 20th century American artists; other gallery rooms provide space for temporary shows and exhibits.
The Country Music Hall of Fame
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has a rich collection of rare music memorabilia from Emmy Lou Harris's jewelled cowboy boots to Elvis's gold leaf covered Cadillac. The museum also has many live performances in the atrium and there are films shown in the theatre, visitors can also view the walls displaying gold and platinum country records.
The Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry is an American icon and was established in 1925 as a weekly radio show playing country and western music, it has now moved to a 4400-seat auditorium where the live shows are still broadcast; the show features up and coming stars, legends and superstars of country and bluegrass music who perform live on stage. One of the shows unique qualities is that guests never know who might turn up for a surprise appearance or duet. Over the years the Opry has had some of the most influential musicians play including; Elvis, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline plus many others. A trip to Nashville isn't complete without a visit to the Grand Ole Opry!
The Music Valley Wax Museum
The Music Valley Wax Museum has over 50 wax figures of famous country stars most of them wearing original stage costumes, there is also the hand, foot prints and signatures on the pavement of over 200 stars. Not far along from the museum is the Music Valley Car Museum which has many of the original cars that belonged to country music stars and stars of the Grand Ole Opry.
