Memphis is located in the state of Tennessee in the USA and is the biggest city in the state; the city has a unique blend of Southern tradition and modern life. When Memphis is mentioned one person that springs to mind is Elvis Presley, he recorded his first hits here and each year hundreds of thousands of fans pay homage to the man and his music. There are very few cities that have as much to do as there is in Memphis as well as offering great food, shopping, museums and fun for the whole family.
The best time to visit Memphis is during the month of May, the month is festival time and there are many things going on as well as the four main events, The Beale Street Music festival, The World Championship Barbeque Cooking Contest, Sunset Symphony and International Week where every year the theme is set around a different country. The month of June hosts Carnival Memphis, which is a series of celebrations and parties, held every year in honour of the various different aspects of Memphis and its industry. September hosts the Cooper-Young Festival that is an art festival also held each year in the Cooper-Young district of midtown Memphis, the festival has art sales contests and displays attracting artists from all over North America.
The climate in Memphis is continental and humid with four distinct seasons, with cold winters and sweltering hot summers but Spring and Autumn can be quite unpredictable and varied.
