Langkawi overview

Langkawi is an archipelago of 100 islands just south of Thailand in the Andaman Sea; the largest of the island is Pulau Langkawi or Langkawi Island with just over 45,000 people living on the island.  Langkawi was once a remote hideaway populated by Pirates and it stayed a sleepy island until 1987 but over the years it has emerged as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia. Langkawi is a picturesque resort in a glorious tropical setting and is a perfect destination to relax and unwind.

Langkawi has two seasons rainy and dry, the best time to visit is between November and June when the weather is warm and dry and the sea is calm enough for diving and snorkelling; the rainy season is from July to October.  The average temperature each day is around 32ºC with little variation throughout the year.
