Kerala Backwater Tours
The backwaters of Kerala are networks of natural and manmade canals stretching over 1500km, there are 38 rivers and 5 lakes extending from one end of the city to the other. The backwaters can be explored by hiring a boat for a day or several, when going for more than a day the boats will usually have a cook as well as a navigator. The tours reveal a part of the Kerala lifestyle that is hidden from the road and round each corner the scenery changes; narrow tree covered canals change into long stretches of paddy fields and further on there are churches, temples and mosques as well as small village and farms that have been untouched by the modern world.
