Hong Kong lies on the eastern side of the Pearl Delta River and is mainly composed of Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. During the past several decades, the country has undergone an exceptionally rapid development, and is nowadays known as a fine place for entertainment, shopping, recreation and food.
Hong Kong Island is the most successful area of the country. Flourishing trade towers, shopping centres, shipping institutions and the headquarters of trade companies flood the streets, showing how well the city is doing. It is also a great place for tourists with the popular Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay located there.
Hong Kong has one of the best nightlife scenes in Asia. There is something for everyone's taste, and wallet! Bars and clubs close when the last person leaves and there is a mix of locals, tourists and overseas Chinese people. Thursday to Saturday are the liveliest party nights and for visitors who aren't interested in the clubbing scene there are many theatres, cinemas, concerts and dance shows.
