Hurghada was established in the early 20th century and since around 1980 it has been continually growing into one of the most popular tourist destinations in Egypt. Desert sands back the city and the crystal clear water, shipwrecks and untouched reefs are popular with water sports enthusiasts and sun seekers alike. The centre of the small town has lively bazaars, mosques and with an energetic atmosphere it is the perfect reflection of typical Egyptian life.
The climate in Hurghada is warm and dry, during the summer months the temperature can reach as high as 43ºC and during winter around 14ºC. The hottest months of the year are June, July and August and the coldest is December although the temperatures can rise to 20.5ºC.
