Antigua overview

Antigua is one of the Caribbean's most popular tourist destinations and largest of the Leeward Islands, there are 365 beaches which stretch along the coastline with the whitest sand and crystal clear waters; with its great coral reefs and shipwrecks Antigua is the perfect place for snorkelling and diving. The capital of Antigua is St Johns, which has a population of over 31,000 people. The neighbouring island of Barbuda forms the other half of the state of Antigua and Barbuda, the island has many deserted beaches with both white and pink sand; Barbuda is a 20-minute flight or a three hour boat trip to Antigua.

The climate on Antigua Barbuda is warm and pleasant all year round and the temperature rarely drops below 20°C. During the summer months the temperature can reach 30°C and in winter from December to March the temperature only drops a few degrees with the highs of around 27°C. The rainy season is from September to November and the hurricane season is from June to November.
