DAY 1: KLM daytime flight from Heathrow via Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro. On arrival transfer to the Serena Mountain Village in Arusha for one night.

DAY 2: After breakfast depart in your 4x4 safari vehicle towards the awe inspiring Ngorongoro Crater, stopping for lunch en route. Arrive in the afternoon at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge on the rim of the crater in time to view the magnificent sunset. The crater is at high altitude and can be cold, so be sure to pack a mixture of warm and light clothing. Spend two nights here (approx. 200 miles).

DAY 3: Descend into the crater for a half day game drive. Explore this unique ecosystem which is home to all the ‘Big 5’ plus cheetahs, hyenas and huge gatherings of flamingos. In the afternoon enjoy a enlightening guided walk to a Masai village.

DAY 4: Drive to Olduvai Gorge, the ‘Cradle of Mankind’ where some of the earliest humanoid remains were found, before continuing to the Serengeti plains for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the National Park and overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge, affording stunning views across the savannah from its pool deck (approx. 135 miles).

DAY 5: A full day in the world famous Serengeti with morning and afternoon game drives in search of resident big game and huge herds of wildebeest during the migration season. Overnight at Sopa Lodge.

DAY 6: Depart for the Rift Valley with a beautiful lunch stop at Gibbs Farm near Karatu en route to Tarangire National Park. Dominated by Baobab trees and huge elephant troops this beautiful park is a haven for wildlife. Overnight Tarangire Sopa Lodge (approx. 200 miles).

DAY 7: Morning and afternoon game drives exploring the stunning riverine ecosystems of Tarangire, home to plenty of big game, birdlife and beautiful scenery.

DAY 8: After breakfast return to Arusha for lunch and fly KLM overnight via Amsterdam to Heathrow. Staying from 15 Jan 2011 for 9 nights
